Mongezi Nonkomo is an author, educator, and advocate dedicated to raising awareness about safety and survival in the face of natural hazards. Born and raised in a region frequently affected by thunderstorms, Nonkomo developed a deep appreciation for the power of nature and the need for community education to prevent tragedies. His inspiration for writing “Tragedy Strikes: A husband, a wife and their pregnant daughter lost to Lightning” came from witnessing the devastating impact of lightning on families and communities, including harrowing real-life stories of loss. Motivated by a desire to save lives through education, Nonkomo crafted this book as a comprehensive guide to understanding the dangers of lightning and adopting practical measures to stay safe.
